NELSON BC MICRO WEDDING
B + W
A mountain wedding with lawn games, amazing food, community and connection.
Nestled in the Kootenays, B+W tied the knot over a weekend getaway with their closest friends and family. They wanted their day to reflect who they were as a couple, and they designed their weekend around a feeling of connection rather than a packed timeline. Bear Spring Eco Retreat was the perfect venue to balance comfort with adventure, and the natural surroundings elevated their mountain experience.
Their celebration started with activities around the property, including lawn games, a bouquet-making station, and a picnic outside. Everyone had a chance to unwind and move at their own pace while they mingled over coffee and sandwiches made with local ingredients. One of the most memorable details was the bouquet-making station, where guests created their own floral arrangements for the ceremony and dinner using locally grown flowers and greens from around the property. It added a personal touch that made the day feel even more meaningful.
As their weekend continued, B+W snuck away to exchange private vows overlooking the Kootenay River before their ceremony. The spot was private and serene despite being so close to the main area on the farm; this allowed them to share a private moment and be fully present with each other as a couple, just a 5 minute walk away from the main festivities. After speaking from their hearts and sharing a quiet moment together, they walked over to their ceremony spot, surrounded by flowers and mountain views. Afterwards, dinner featured local food from The Block at Railtown and Epiphany Cakes, highlighting seasonal ingredients and simple, beautiful flavours. Everyone sat together at one table while food was served family-style; it felt like a warm family meal, just like back home. And to make the evening even more special, B+W opted to have a first cribbage game with their parents instead of a first dance. With the candlelight and the quiet backdrop of the woods, the atmosphere felt warm and intentional without being overly formal.
The entire weekend reflected what micro weddings do best — creating space for genuine connection, unforgettable experiences, and a celebration that truly feels like you.
