I've always felt that engagement photos should feel more like a date than a photoshoot, so that's exactly what we decided to do for M + J's engagement session in Nelson BC.
Motorcycle Engagement Session
When we first met, I asked M + J how they like to spend their time together. Their answer included drinking tea, taking the bikes out for a rip and going for gelato. As soon as they mentioned motorcycles, I knew we had to include a ride in their photos because it was totally, uniquely them. So, after some time at home enjoying the view of Nelson BC, we headed out for a motorcycle ride on the highway to a quiet spot near Kootenay River.
Engagement Photography that Feels Like a Date Night
Engagement photos are amazing for a few reasons. I love photographing them as part of my wedding photography packages because it's kind of like an official kick-off to your wedding experience - you get to spend dedicated time with your partner thinking about getting married, maybe you get to dress up a little bit, and you also get to feel what it's like to be in front of the camera. The best part of engagement photos, though, is that it's an excuse to go on a date and do something fun together to celebrate your upcoming wedding!
M + J did exactly that - they went for a motorcycle ride together, just like they have a million times before. It was a warm summer evening on the highway, just the two of them. The roads were clear, the air was lovely, and the sunset was beautiful. They knew the perfect spot by the river to pull over for some photos, and it felt like they were the only two people in the world.
(Except I was also there, with my camera, photographing them... and it was real cute!)
This session was clutch, and I am really excited to be M + J's wedding photographer!
